WHY IS ARMOR ISSUED BEFORE BATTLE

Why does Scripture command believers to put on the armor of God before describing the battle?

In this foundational teaching from Series One: The Armory, we examine the order given in Ephesians 6:10–12 and why preparation must precede confrontation.

Paul does not begin with the enemy.
He begins with strength in the Lord.

Only after establishing strength does he command believers to put on the full armor of God, and only then does he explain the nature of the conflict.

This order reveals a critical spiritual principle:

Protection is preventative, not reactive.

Many believers attempt to address spiritual warfare only after they are already under pressure, emotionally overwhelmed, or compromised by temptation. But armor was never designed to be emergency equipment. It is standard issue for those who understand that spiritual conflict is ongoing.

In this teaching, we explore:

• Why armor must be worn before the battle begins
• Why reactive spirituality leads to exhaustion and instability
• How preparation shapes instinct when pressure arrives
• Why discipline, not information, is the missing piece for many believers

The armor of God has already been issued.

Truth has been given.
Righteousness has been provided.
Faith has been supplied.
Salvation has been secured.
The Word has been spoken.

The question is no longer whether believers have access to armor.

The question is whether they are choosing to wear it.

This session establishes the foundation for the entire Armory series and prepares the ground for the next teachings, where each individual piece of armor will be examined in depth.

Because spiritual armor was never meant to be symbolic.

It is meant to be worn.
